ABOUT BENTON HALL
The History:
This important historic building was originally constructed in 1913, serving as the North Wilkesboro Graded School. After the school’s closing in 1978, the building was abandoned and left in disrepair. Local businessman Clarence Benton acquired the building hoping to restore it to its former glory. He named it Benton Hall and eventually sold it to the Health Foundation for $1. The Health Foundation ultimately transferred ownership to Wilkes Playmakers. The building has gone through many interesting updates and changes over the years, including the addition of an extra building to house an overflow of students in 1924, a gym in the 1930's, an addition with several new rooms and an updated gym in 1964, and several more modern updates completed by the Wilkes Playmakers.
The Haunts:
This location is wildly active at all hours of the day. With its long and unusual history this building and the land it stands on has plenty of stories left to tell. Staff and volunteers at this location have experienced a plethora of activity from footsteps and whispers to clear voices and full body apparitions. Theres never a guarantee that you'll have an experience on an investigation but this location is about as close as it gets, come and see for yourself...

The Investigation:
During this public investigation, you'll get to join our team for the night as we explore this historically haunted location. You will get to experience an opening vigil where we ground ourselves and then introduce ourselves to the spirits and invite them to interact with us for the night, several vigils that focus on using various ghost hunting tools and techniques, access to parts of the building that are normally off limits to the public and an period of self exploration where you can use your own equipment (or borrow Great State Paranormal's equipment) and partake in your own investigations.

Note for those with mobility challenges. This location has a functioning elevator that will grant you access to every area that is included with our regular Ghost Hunt events. If you have any special request, please get in contact with us and we will attempt to find any reasonable accommodation that we can.
